Under the sea...

Our dear friends, Steph and Saj, were vacationing in Paris so we made plans to meet them there for the weekend.
Instead of flying, we decided to take the Eurostar train (aka. The Chunnel).   Even after 20 years in operation, the workings of this train route still seem so novel and hard to wrap your head around.  How can a train really travel under the water??

Thus, the train trip seemed a big part of the adventure.

Equipped with our Marks and Spencer picnic lunch, our trip started out as any other as we sat back and watched the countryside whiz by.  But after about half an hour later, the train enters an understated tunnel and you can feel yourself descending as your ears pop a few times.  The ride is dark outside for the next half an hour by train and then, all of a sudden, the train "pops" up on the other side of the water and continued chugging along right into the heart of the city.  Such a fluid ride!
