Quirky Paris
One of our challenges with Paris is that things don't function in a way that makes sense to us. It starts from the moment you arrive when you have to pay and pick a subway entrance before they show you the map to determine whether you picked correctly. In takeaway shops, you can get either a coffee or a pastry...but not both. If you want takeout coffee on a Sunday, the only place to get it is at the tobacco shop where they serve it to you in a small plastic cup with a straw. Their smoking "tents" are more glorious than most of their cafes. Their parks don't let you walk on the grass. Their food delivery services only send the correct order 20% of the time. A pre-ordered taxi charges you the cost of coming to pick you up in addition to the actual fare. And the hotel bed was actually floating!
