Exquisite Art Dubai...

Hosted at the gorgeous Madinat Jumeirah, Art Dubai is an international art exhibition featuring artists from around the world, with strong roots in the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Featuring 94 exhibitors from 43 different countries and offering a wide diversity of art and styles, the exhibition appealed to art lovers of all types.

A gorgeous hotel backdrop, beautiful outdoor weather to enjoy as you walked to the different exhibitions, and tantalizing works of art to enjoy - it was a night to remember and an event to look forward to again next year!

Snow. Dubai style.

Sometimes, in the evening, it snows in Dubai.

Current evening temperature - 25 degrees celsius.

What will they think of next?

Doing Business in the DIFC

Dubai's International Financial District (DIFC) is in the heart of Downtown Dubai and is one of the most striking and gorgeous areas of the city.  DIFC is well laid out, making it easy to walk to all of the different buildings.  Geoff can even walk to work most days.
And just to keep you on your toes, you never know when you might run into a peacock or two...

Making the most of a long layover...

Having a very long layover en route back from Toronto, Beth made the most of her time by heading into Amsterdam's Museum District to visit the spectacular Rijks Museum.

Arriving before the Museum actually opened, Beth found a charming cafe at the nearby Concert Hall to enjoy breakfast and watch the world go by before heading over to the Museum to get reacquainted with some of her favourite painters.

Vermeer, Rembrandt, Breitner and Van Gogh's works still awe-induce today and serve as a powerful reminder of the Netherlands' global leadership and dominance in the 1700s and 1800s.

Slight bus troubles aside (which led to chaotic running around town looking for an ATM), the trip into town was the perfect refreshment before the second leg of the journey back to Dubai.

Dubai's Terry Fox Run

Last hosted in 2013, the Dubai Terry Fox Run made a wonderful return to Dubai in February 2017. Undeterred by the rainy morning, thousands showed up to support this important run for cancer research.  Special guest Judith Fox - Terry's sister - made the trip from Canada to support the day.
Seeing the crowds decked out in their navy blue t-shirts and cheering on the cause made the months of planning feel incredibly worth the effort.

Down to the last drop...

It seems strange that Geoff adores coffee (drinking multiple cups a day) and Beth has never actually had a cup of coffee.

So, inspired by the delightful aromas and backdrop of the Nespresso in Dubai Mall, we pulled up a seat at the bar counter and enjoyed a small cup.

The vanilla latte was quite tasty but it will be a while before the intensity of regular coffee appeals...

Dubai Aces It

Due to crammed work and travel schedules, we had only one day to head to the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Tournament. But it turned out to be a great one. Watching Angelique Kerber showcase her incredible skills was exciting...and very motivating!
